About this photograph
I had planned to teach my daughter photography by shooting the Austin skyline from the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge. The Texas heat had other plans. The temperature became unbearable, and we retreated to the shaded trails along Lady Bird Lake. The simple transition led us to a view I had not planned to capture. From beneath the trees, the Lamar Boulevard Bridge stretched across the water, its sunlit arches framed by the downtown skyline and reflected in the lake below. Our lesson in photographing Austin became a lesson of another kind: sometimes the best image is found when the original plan gives way to the unexpected.
Bring the character of Austin, Texas, into your home with this photograph of the Lamar Boulevard Bridge, the downtown skyline, and their reflections in Lady Bird Lake. Warm evening sunlight illuminates the bridge’s graceful arches while calm water mirrors the city above.
This view combines several unmistakable elements of Austin: historic architecture, modern high-rises, Lady Bird Lake, and the relaxed atmosphere of the city’s waterfront. The strong lines of the bridge and rich blue-and-gold colors make it especially well suited for an office, living room, entryway, or Texas-themed gallery wall.
This photograph would make a meaningful gift for:
• Austin residents and former Austinites • University of Texas students and alumni • Texas travelers and architecture enthusiasts • Anyone celebrating a move, graduation, wedding, or new home • Lovers of Austin landmarks and cityscape photography
