About this photograph

What does it mean to capture magic in a place where the boundary between legend and reality has grown beautifully thin?

The fog arrived before I did, settling over the park like a silver veil drawn across a secret. Squire's Castle in the fog emerged through the bare, skeletal trees of North Chagrin Reservation, its crenellated tower rising from the mist with startling, unhurried authority.

I felt the cold immediately, biting through my jacket as I crossed the emerald lawn, my boots silent against the damp earth. The architecture spoke in a language older than Ohio, each sandstone block stacked with Victorian ambition and gothic reverence. I steadied my camera, watching the fog breathe around the arched gateway, wondering if something breathed back.

The haunted whispers surrounding this place, the restless spirit of the caretaker's wife said to still wander these halls, pressed against my imagination like cold fingers. This is a castle that earns its reputation.

Built by Feargus Squire as a gatehouse for an estate never completed, this forgotten folly carries a melancholy grandeur that the history books barely capture. I stayed through the late morning, the mist refusing to lift, and I am grateful it did not.

Hang this print and let the fog find you, let the castle's enduring mystery settle into your walls and remind you that wonder lives where old stones remember everything.
